A project that experimented with using environmental storytelling to teach players. Following on from my dissertation 'To What Extent Can Videogames Be Used For Learning Through the Application of Constructivism and the Use Of Environmental Storytelling?'

A Seed to Plant, for me, is an exploration into how narrative, environment and gameplay can work together to create a meaningful experience.

My aim for this project is to not only show players the art of patience, mindfulness and being aware of one's surroundings, but to show that games can teach players in safe environments and encourage transferable skills such as experimentation.

My initial plan for this game was to follow on from the research I did for my dissertation which explored how games can be used for educational purposes and skill development, but I also wanted to add a narrative onto it that meant something to me personally. A key point I discovered within my research into constructivist theories was the power of meaning, and how without it there is little understanding.
